ECC Keypair Generator

Category: Asymmetric & Elliptic Curve ยท Node Type ID: asymmetric-ecc-keygen

Generates Elliptic Curve keypair (NIST P-256/384/521, secp256k1, Brainpool)

Overview

Generates an Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) private scalar and uncompressed public point on one of 6 standardized prime-field Weierstrass curves: NIST P-256 (secp256r1), P-384 (secp384r1), P-521 (secp521r1) (FIPS 186-5), secp256k1 (SECG / Bitcoin / Ethereum), or European TeleTrusT brainpoolP256r1 and brainpoolP384r1 (RFC 5639).

The generated keypair can be used directly with both ECC Sign (ECDSA) / ECC Verify (ECDSA) and ECDH Key Agreement on the same curve.

Port I/O Specification

See Ports & Connections for general wiring rules, data type colors, and dynamic port creation.

Input Ports

This node has no input ports.

Output Ports

Port Nature: Fixed Output Ports (2 total).

Port NamePort IDData TypeVisibility ConditionDescription
Private Key privateKey Bytes Always visible Raw big-endian private scalar $d$ (32 bytes for 256-bit curves, 48 bytes for 384-bit curves, 66 bytes for P-521).
Public Key publicKey Bytes (Uncompressed) Always visible Uncompressed SEC 1 elliptic curve point ($0x04 \parallel X \parallel Y$: 65 bytes for 256-bit curves, 97 bytes for 384-bit curves, 133 bytes for P-521).

Error Cases

This node has no runtime failure cases (errorProfile: none) and always succeeds for any valid typed input.

Examples

Generating a NIST P-256 Keypair

Create a 32-byte private key and 65-byte uncompressed public key on P-256.

  1. Leave Elliptic Curve set to NIST P-256 (secp256r1).
  2. Wire Private Key to ECC Sign (ECDSA) and Public Key to ECC Verify (ECDSA).
