ECC Verify (ECDSA)

Category: Asymmetric & Elliptic Curve ยท Node Type ID: asymmetric-ecc-verify

Verifies ECDSA signature against public key on specified curve

Overview

Verifies an ECDSA signature (FIPS 186-5) against a message (or pre-computed hash) and public key on the selected Weierstrass curve, outputting a boolean verdict on the Valid port.

Uses a Judgement Error Profile: invalid signatures emit Valid = false without throwing an error unless Treat As Error is configured.

When to Use

Parameter Configuration

Parameter (ID)Type & DefaultVisibility ConditionDescription & Options
Curve
curve
select
Default: p256
Always visible Must match the elliptic curve used during signing.
  • secp256k1: secp256k1 (Bitcoin / Ethereum)
  • p256: NIST P-256 (secp256r1 / prime256v1)
  • p384: NIST P-384 (secp384r1)
  • p521: NIST P-521 (secp521r1)
  • brainpoolP256r1: Brainpool P256r1 (RFC 5639)
  • brainpoolP384r1: Brainpool P384r1 (RFC 5639)
  • brainpoolP512r1: Brainpool P512r1 (RFC 5639)
Pre-hash with SHA-256
autoHash
boolean
Default: true
Supports Variable Reference ($var: bool)
Always visible Must match the pre-hashing setting used during signing (true to hash Message with SHA-256 automatically; false if passing a pre-computed hash digest).
Treat As Error
errorOnValue
select
Default: "" (empty)
Always visible Judgement error reinterpretation: set to false (or true) to raise an error when Valid matches that value.
  • (empty): None (default; the result is plain data)
  • true: true
  • false: false
Error Code
errorCode
text
Default: "" (empty)
Supports Variable Reference ($var: string)
When errorOnValue is true or false Custom error code when Treat As Error triggers.
Error Message
errorMessage
text
Default: "" (empty)
Supports Variable Reference ($var: string)
When errorOnValue is true or false Custom error message when Treat As Error triggers.

Port I/O Specification

See Ports & Connections for general wiring rules, data type colors, and dynamic port creation.

Input Ports

Port Nature: Fixed Input Ports (3 total).

Port NamePort IDData TypeRequiredVisibility ConditionDescription
Public Key publicKey Bytes Required Always visible Signer EC public key point (uncompressed 0x04 || X || Y or compressed 0x02/0x03 || X).
Message data Bytes Required Always visible Original message bytes (or pre-computed hash bytes when Pre-hash with SHA-256 = false).
Signature signature Bytes Required Always visible Candidate ECDSA signature bytes to verify.

Output Ports

Port Nature: Fixed Output Ports (1 total).

Port NamePort IDData TypeVisibility ConditionDescription
Valid isValid Bool Always visible Boolean verification result (true if valid, false otherwise).

Error Cases

This node uses a Judgement Error Profile on its boolean output port isValid:

Examples

Verifying a P-256 ECDSA Signature

Check an ECDSA signature against the signer's P-256 public key.

  1. Connect Public Key from ECC KeyGen, the original Message, and the Signature from ECC Sign to ECC Verify (ECDSA).
